Never mind the scorching sun when you can have all the fun indoors any way.
The ninth edition of Dubai Sports World (DSW) is back to Dubai World Trade Centre with a lot in store for sports lovers. There, you can try your luck with the trapeze or turn backflips at acrobatics. Climb all you want, learn martial arts or just parkour away.
For the first time, Dubai’s AC Milan Academy has joined DSW. Till September 10, a bunch of academies will be coaching those looking to up their game, with ‘Ball Above All’, ‘Just Cricket’ and Centerline Academies representing basketball, cricket and volleyball. There’s also the IFA Football Academy, Juventus Academy Dubai and LaLiga Academy, as well as professional badminton coaching, advanced tennis lessons, quality cricket coaching with G-Force, and elite basketball training. Additionally, the Ninja Warriors course is also back by popular demand.
For team players, the 25,000sqm venue has three pro-standard pitches for five-a-side football; three pro-standard pitches for seven-a-side football and rugby; six basketball courts; three street basketball courts; 18 badminton courts; two tennis courts and a table tennis zone; three volleyball courts; two cricket pitches; cycling and fitness studios powered by Reebok and LesMills; a padel court and a gym fitted out by Technogym.
While the gym usage charge is AED 10 a session, you can get a season pass for AED 200. The rates to rent the pitches and courts vary. You can book the same by downloading the Dubai Sports World app, or book online at www.dubaisportsworld.ae, where you can also enroll in DSW’s summer camps for kids.
Good news, this year DSW has showers. Find them near the badminton courts, but remember to bring your own towels and toiletries. There are free lockers to stash your stuff in too.
Best of all, DSW is open every day from 8am to midnight, so there’s no excuse for not making some time for fitness over the long, hot summer.
